The nordskog says it can save max/min levels and recall them later (might be helpful since its going to be trunk mounted)

Although neat, I think its useless. I dont think its important what your voltage used to be.....you need to know right now.

One prob - and maybe a battery expert can speak up here - but don't lead-acid batteries have to get pretty depleted before they start to drop voltage? So, can't the battery output voltage still look pretty good (under a small load) but then the battery be unable to deliver enough current to start?

Matt

Good point. So what you are saying that although the volt meter may say 12.5 volts on the gauge, the car might not start because the batt. cannot generate enough current? Very possible.

Also, a bit of sidetracking here....

The s2000 is the first manual car Ive ever owned. Can someone please give me a step by spep on how to start a manual car when the battery dies....(without jumper cables mike )

Something about rolling it, popping into gear...etc....

Thanks.

Ok...so.....

Go to an incline....

Put the car into 1st, but with the clutch DOWN. (disengaged)...

Let the car roll to a good momentum,

Pop the clutch, hit the start button???

Correct?
