Default Help on new setup

So my current setup is slowly but surely going to sh!t.
I bought the S with a 12" Sub (not sure what brand)
2 amps (Alpine 2/1 Channel MRV-T707 & Alpine 2/1 Channel MRV-T407)
and a component set (Diamond Audio) all connected to the almighty OEM headunit with OEM 6 cd changer

My top got slashed by some idiots on New Years. Basically rain got in and fried my passenger speaker and tweeter. Recently my driver side has started to die due to being the sole speaker being powered.

I finally dove in and started to redo my audio. I'll being keeping the Sub and Amps. The OEM headunit is up for sale along with the CD changer and will be replaced with a Pioneer DEH-P7200HD Headunit. All I have left which I need some help with is my component set. The Diamond Audio set that fried was amazing and Im looking for a replacement that is as good.

Stuck between the Alpine SPR-17S and the Alpine SPX-17REF. Need advice from first-hand experiences please.

Thanks in advance S2Ki

No first hand experience with the new ones. My brother had the previous gen type R's. They're decent for the money, but they are inexpensive components. They'll probably play quite loud and be ok for accuracy--peaks and valleys on the SQ spectrum, and probably some frequencies will sound hard or harsh, but much better than most OE sets and capable of handling some power. If you want volume without a lot of distortion though either will probably work great. If you want a flat frequency response as well, it's worth spending a bit more IMO. But that's all about what you're interested in.

I went with some low-mid range, entry level SQ stuff: Pioneer's 720PRS. They ran about $300, and I could have shopped them down to about $250. I'm quite happy with them. I was very closely considering getting separates from madisound instead.

Boston has a line--pro 60?--that has been very popular here for an entry level SQ type speaker.

But probably your best bet (given the little I'm getting from your post), if you're willing to try them out: PPI re-released a great set of ADS components for dirt cheap. The 356cs IIRC. They were something like $100-150, so they cost about the same as your alpines, but they would produce considerably higher quality sound, as they were a copy of a $600 ADS set. People were raving about the quality of sound per dollar. Not sure if you can get the price anymore though... if you can't, there are other options.
