Default Help with sub choice from kicker for lots of bass

I listen to lots of hip hop and rap, with the occasional techno.

Last week I got my Alpine 9835 + CDT CL-61 components.
My amp will be a kicker 600.4. ( i know a kicker rep and get great prices)

I want to fit my sub in the tool well.

Should I go for the 8"L7 @ 450 RMS or the 10"L5. They are both rated @ 450RMS.
The 10" hit's lower frequencies that the 8".

BUT the 8" requires less space.

What would be better for my application?

They are both garbage. My Alphasonik will toast both of them, sound better, and last more than 3 months. Dont get a kicker.

What would sound better?
Will the 10`` have enough space to pump??

So the 8 inch would not sound better even though it requires less space?

I put a 8'' L5 in my wifes rsx and I am running it with a old school zr360 amp. I do agree with a some of these guys in saying that the sound quality is not as good as my diamond audio sub in my car. The kicker seems to be more "boomy" (if thats a word )compared to tight clean bass. However, if you are set on kicker, I would think the 8'' would be sufficient and it only requires .33 to .75 ft^3.

I will also say that I do have a kicker amp in my car that I am please with (I do think there are plenty of cleaner amps but, would I hear the difference? probably not). I am running a 650.4 on my diamond Hex components and my 10" diamond sub and my setup hits alot harder and cleaner than my wifes.

just my .02

I have an 8"L7 being slightly overpushed with a 500W amp. It sounds great and has enough power to shake more than just the standard culprits in the S2000. It's true kickers don't sound as good if you play them straight toward yourself. They need to be played somewhere where the sound will reflect or far enough away that you don't hear the cone noise. Definately fine for the kind of music you listen to. If you listened to classical, I would say no.
I've owned a few different kickers over the years along with many others and have never had one fail. The local shop where I get mine pushes his kickers with up to 4 times what they're rated and only occasionally loses them. They can handle enourmous amounts of other abuses too.

They're dogging Kicker subs like they have extensive experiance...lol. If you get a Solo Baric subwoofer your box has to be built completely different than with a conventional circular subwoofer. If you build it right...it'll sound better and hit harder than their little whatevers...
If I were you I would get the 8" L7 and have your Kicker dealer build you a big box to spec. You won't regret it. Any particular reason you're going with a 600.4?
