I'll post pics once I get it installed...lol.
However I do have pics of all the equipment except the solo x. It's at the shop where I purchased it. No need to buy it...take it home...take it back...etc.

As for me...I have little experiance with system installation and I have no background in car audio.
^ Hence my point Steve.

I look forward to the installed pic's Neil. Next time just try to use a little tacked.

"However, that said... I'll be damned if someone new to the board is going to come into this forum and act like a jerk, be it towards Dave " this would be defending dave - also what right does Dave have to say " wouldnt be surprised if you got banned within the next month" He has no more rights saying this than I saying it......

Dude i don't need to point out dave's posts do i??

and yes most alarms are not the best BUT in all honestly something is better than nothing

furthermore, why ask what GroovyNeilNeil's qualifications are to quantify his statement to dave

I listen to lots of hip hop and rap, with the occasional techno.

Last week I got my Alpine 9835 + CDT CL-61 components.
My amp will be a kicker 600.4. ( i know a kicker rep and get great prices)

I want to fit my sub in the tool well.

Should I go for the 8"L7 @ 450 RMS or the 10"L5. They are both rated @ 450RMS.
The 10" hit's lower frequencies that the 8".

BUT the 8" requires less space.

What would be better for my application?
What is your ultimate goal for your bass? The kicker sub is going to give you very loud, sloppy, boomy bass. That is probably why Dave calls it "garbage" (also, the build quality for the money is not great, but it is okay -- certainly above average IMO). If that description appeals to you go for it.

Sound quality and volume are almost opposites with bass. For the most volume (SPL) you almost guarantee that you will hear "one note" bass (that is, the sub will really only produce bass at one frequency with varying volume). If you want more musical bass (bass that fills in the low end of your music) you want smaller subs (yes, two) that are more efficient and in sealed enclosures. Ported enclosures with bigger SPL-focused subs will blow your head off in this car, which can be fun for sure, but that's not what most of the regulars here prefer. We like our music to sound as good as possible.

For my money I'd make the 10" sub work. Why the hell not? For the same quality and similar price, get the bigger one and turn the sub output down on your headunit if you need to.

I don't have much hands-on experiance...however I have been reading and studying up on Car Audio for about the last 4 years. I've also gone through several system changes (trial and error just like everybody else). What I say about car audio is strictly biased and holds no credibility, but isn't that the same about all opinions?

I'd get the 8" L7 and have a 1 cubic foot box built to spec and you'll be good to go.
