Don Cornelius,
go with XM, more music, better playlists, and best of all : cheaper. I have XM and I love it. So much variety. I have had it for about a month, and still finding new stations every other day. My buddy has Sirius, its nice too, but I dont see why its more expensive. More music variety in XM if thats what you are looking for. The slim shady station is nice though on Sirius, hopefully the rumors i heard are true and the two companies merge so I can get the Eminem station!!!
As for getting it running, you need the Universal Tuner box from XM and also the Alpine XMDALP100 aftermarket adaptor.

You are looking at $100 for both to get running, and if I remember correctly there is a $10 activation fee as well. You can get it at any Best Buy, thats where I got mine. Very easy to install. I installed the antenna in the secret compartment in the front one. I have my Tuner and Adapter in the pax foot well, specifically I have the tuner in that net you see in the pax footwell by the center console and then the adaptor I have it double sided taped to the bottom of the dash. Make sure you use industrial double sided tape so it does not fall off.
Let me know if you need any help or pics, I can go take some to show you in more detail.

XM has more music channels, 68 - 65.
the sirius music is very repetitive, it's like FM without commercials.
xm is much deeper, if you like music it won't drive you nuts with tight playlists.
