Well, technically, it's true. The sun doesn't shine there. What I am requesting help on is to find or make a hole in the firewall for an amplifier's power cable. If you have amps in your cars, please let me know where your holes are. I'm having a friend install it for me this weekend, but I need to make sure that he'll make an appropriate hole. I know how to install amps, as I had done it in the past (it's pretty simple actually), but I'd rather have this guy do it.

I was just given a set of Infinity Kappa component speakers and they sound pretty awesome, even with the mere power of a Sony head unit. They'd be even sweeter with my old trusty Pioneer amp. I had on a set of Pioneer speakers before that, and they were good, but these Kappa ones are very sweet. Thanks for the gift, V! I used to have an awesome audio system in my Lexus coupe; two amps, two 12" subs, and a bunch of very nice speakers. When I was in the mood for some bumping music, I could be heard a mile away. Now, all those have been sold cuz they didn't fit an S. I miss my old system! Now, there are only two little speakers and tweeters in my S. I'm going to install a pair in the back soon too.

Anyhoo, any helpful response would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you get the Install Instructions for 2002 Hood Switch there is a rubber grommet in the firewall that you can remove that works pretty good for wiring amp's or foglights.

Bonny...its pretty easy......

remove the battery.....look down at the firewall...see the grommet???

Shove it through there....you might want to use some lube, itll slide in much easier.

J/K Soapy water is good, I had to shove a diesel 4 gauge in there, so that wasnt fun, but a regular old 8 gauge should slide right in. Good luck!

P.S. I do not recommend cutting a hole in the firewall due to flooding issues, and also, you might not get the hole where it needs to be (you dont know 100% what is behind the firewalll at that spot.) Just use the grommet.

The grommet behind the battery is a royal pain in the rear, but it is the best way to get a power cable through the firewall.

Make your own hole right next to it behind the battery.

lube lol.

Why would 2 more speakers in the rear give you more "complete sound?" Are you looking for surround sound? Or are you referring to subwoofers?

Complete sound means surround sound with more volume and depth to it. No way could I fit a subwoofer in this car unless it's really small or custom-made. I've been told that since it's a convertible, a sub would not improve it much and may rattle too much.

IMHO, I don't think you need surround sound unless you plan on watching movies in your car. There is no need for "rear fill" especially since there are no passengers in the back seat (due to a lack of one).

It's all about imaging and install IMO.

After upgrading my head unit to an Alpine 9813 and replacing the door speakers with 6.5" units, my stereo was still lacking. I then added speakers behind the seats, and wham!, the sound was 300% better! I wouldn't have thought so due to the speakers being blocked by the seats, but, it really worked great. There is much more 'body', and the sound is much more enveloping.

Now I'm considering buying both left and right pillar gauge pods, and putting some speakers in there. I'll also consider the new seat headrest speakers, but I'll have to see them first.
