Use the existing grommet behind the battery. I ran a 4 gauge to my amplifier AND an extra 10 gauge straight to my CD deck, both went through without any serious issues.

IMHO, I don't think you need surround sound unless you plan on watching movies in your car. There is no need for "rear fill" especially since there are no passengers in the back seat (due to a lack of one).

Well I guess everybody has their own opinion on car sound. Just because it is a convertable doesnt mean it cant have good sound, and besides the s2k trunk is perfect for a sub. I have a total of 11 speakers in the car now. I have custom made kick panels by youre feet with Boston Accoustic 6.5" pro-seris components, JL 6.5" competition seris in the doors, JL 5.5" behind the seats, and a 12" JL W6 in the trunk. It is all powerd by about 1,000 watts from 2 amps in the trunk and the sound is really great! I would definatley recomend putting the speakers behind youre seat, it really helps, but is all about where you put them and having a good head unit to control all of them. I say go for it. Oh yea, my power cable is also going through the fire wall by the battery. Don't cut the fire wall take you're time and do it right the first time.

Yeah, who says you can't enjoy a good audio system in a convertible?! 99.9% of the time I drive with the music on. Music and driving make an intoxicating mixture.

Next week, I'll try to add a pair of 5 1/4 to the rear and hook them up to an amp. That should improve the overall quality and sound greatly. I wish I could make it like my old system in the Lex coupe when I could be heard miles away when I was in the mood. Yes, I like hip hop and rock, but I also love the 80's, except when I listen to the 80's music, I turn it down low.

yea, when I put the rear spaeakers in, it definatley made it louder, but at the same time it did give a rear fill, I already had 8 speakers in the front and you could definatley notice the sound behind you when the rear speakers went in. I think you both have good points and are both right!
