Default Honda security system attachment harness

I purchased a Honda security system and attachment harness for my '04 S2K and started the install yesterday. The harness doesn't have the two wire lead/arm which is supposed to route around behind the driver and into the center console for driving the LED. The box was labeled properly (08E55-S2A-101 Security Att S2000). P/N on the harness itself is 08E55-S2A-1011-01. But the harness doesn't match the installation instructions (only missing the LED lead). Any thoughts? Is it intended that the LED now be mounted elsewhere, e.g. near the steering wheel or on the dash?

Me again....

Looking further into this, the harness in question has a two pin connector (w/one wire), which ends up in close proximity to a mating connector (again w/one wire), in close proximity to the hood release lever under the dash. It certainly seems as if these connector halves are made for one another. The wire coding is even the same on both halves. The instructions for the security system mentions nothing about these conncetors. I wonder what these are for, and if they should be connected....

I know others have installed the OEM security system. Did your harness have a segment which routed over to the center console for mounting the LED behind the parking brake?

Yes the LED goes near the parking brake lever and your kit should have come with it unless something changed for '04. The extra connector under the dash near the hood release is for the optional hood trigger which doesn't come with the kit. Check out these instructions here and see if they match what you have - http://www.handaaccessories.com/S2000/s2ksecurity.pdf .

Thanks Chad....mystery solved about the two pin connector. I bought the hood switch as well but hadn't started that part of the install yet. I now see from those instructions that connector is used. I see you're in Austin as well.

This still leaves the mystery for the LED. I have the instructions for the security system (same one everyone else has) and it clearly shows the LED being mounted behind the parking brake. It also depicts a harness with a lead that routes behind the driver and into the center console. The harness I have is missing this arm. I've seen two P/N's listed with the on-line retailers for this harness: 08E55-S2A-100 and 08E55-S2A-101, with the former having more hits. I have the 101. Even though the box is marked S2000 by Honda, looks like maybe I need the 100 version instead. Can anyone confirm this is explanation.

Cheers,
Mike

Doesn't the 04 S have a security system or is it just keyless entry? Why choose the Honda system over aftermarket?

OK, mystery solved. The '04 S2K has an LED in the instrument cluster that the Honda OEM security system uses. So there is no need for an LED on the center console as before, and the security harness has been modified to remove that leg.

No, the S2K ships only with keyless entry. The security system must be added. I decided to go with the Honda OEM unit as it plugs directly into the existing wiring harness of the car.

Cheers,
Mike

Cool, glad you figured it out. I also added a microwave and a shock sensor to the oem alarm using the 2 pin connector that goes to the hood switch. Just something to think about.

just so you are aware... and probably you know this already.. but just in case... the OEM alarm only has circuitry and glass sensor... meaning it would go off when doors and trunk are open (if you have the hood switch then hood as well)... and when the glass breaks (if it reaches certain db)

If someone jacks up your car to steal your rims or cut your top to get inside, it would not blast off.
