Depends on what you want to do with it. I hate to say search the forum, but there is plenty of good info out there on this topic. Mastergrade (site sponsor) sells an LCD pod, but it only fits a certain screen.

I was going to take on this project a few months ago, but decided against it. In preparation, I purchased a salvaged interior dash. Yes, the whole dash minus instrument and stereo stuff. Since I have abandoned this project for the foreseable future, I might be willing to part with it for what I paid. I think it was $160 with shipping. It is $335 or so for a new one.

its still an extensive custom installation. variables would be the input source to the LCD, the LCD itself, nav? ect.

It's not a cakewalk.

alright, i guess the question would be how much would an estimate be for having someone just install the lcd into the dash. I'm looking for a general number. I can do all the wireing. that's no problem. would i be looking at like 500 bucks for custom installing a lcd screen? Thanks,m

Depends on the quality of the install. Will a custom molding have to be made to make the screen look good on/in the dash? Depends on the screen. Will you go touchscreen or regular. Will the screen be bright enough for convertible use?

A good quality screen (non-touch) that will be bright enough is probably around $400. Installation wiould be $500-1000 depending on how it is done. This is why I had the extra dash. Might be easier to mod the dash and then install it.

If you do a search, there is one guy who has by far the best LCD install. It cost him about $5000 for installation and equipment.

What will be source for your screen. For the money, to buy a Kenwood DVD/GPS, you could be an Auto PC that plays DVDs, does GPS and tons of other stuff.
