how many subs?
Guys:
I need to know what kinda and how many subs should be in my s. I used to have two 10's in my ITR. I love it loud and deep but we only have a very small trunk.... (I still want to have some space to carry things)
Thanks for the poll!!!!

I think the only way to answer this poll is to figure out what you're after and what you're willing to sacrifice. You could use the entire tool well for an enclosure for two 8 or 10" subs that would be flush with the rest of the floor. You would also need to protect the subs with grills or something if you wanted to use the trunk to store stuff (grocery shopping, etc.). I got the JL Audio stealth box that uses one 10" sub in the tool well, but it's recessed from the floor of the trunk a few inches and comes with a nice carpeted cover so you don't know the sub is there. I get nice bass from this sub and enclosure. It costs $$$ but I like it very much.
By running a sub, you will need an amp, and the new question is where are you going to put the amp? You could buy one small enough in size to fit on top of the gas tank. If you're running another amp to power your front speakers, well, that's a problem too. You need to ask yourself if you're willing to give up the spare tire or not. You could mount a small amp inside the spare tire too, but then if you use the tool well for the sub, where are you going to put your jack and tools? I took out my spare tire and put two amps in there along with my main fuse box and power/ground distribution blocks. I also put a fan there to cool the amps, but that's probably not necessary.
The next issue you'll need to go over is if you want to "port" your trunk in a way that will make a single or smaller sub(s) sound louder in the cabin. You could vent the vertical panels in the trunk closest to the gas tank. You could also vent the rear shelf where the convertible top rests when it's down.
Sorry for getting long winded here, but with the S2000, there are only so many options you can consider if you want to keep some trunk space along with your spare tire and tools. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply.
Yea I'm also thinking about my amp. I have a PG zx950. It is a very big amp since it is acutally 2 amps combined into 1. I think I probably will take out the spare tire and the tool well, because I want less weight.. (I know I know, I'm take a risk.. life is all about risks. is it?
) I wish I can see some pictures from other owners' S2000 so I can get a idea.
