how to separate start button from radio controls?
Today I tried to remove my dash remote radio controls for repair, going on something I'd read about not needing to drop the steering column. Of course, it turned out that I did need to do that, so I had to button everything back up.
However, I did notice that the start button mechanism seems to be captive by the dash radio control assembly.
I just wanted to ask, for when I next try this, how to remove the radio controls from the start button column, or vice versa. I hope I can figure it out once I get a look from the reverse side of the dash bezel, but it's better to be prepared!
I can tell the radio control assembly is held onto the dash bezel by 3 screws. Once I unscrew those, it looks like I pull it out from the front, starting by pulling out the left edge? The only problem with that is the long start button column seems to block that method of extraction.

I finally tackled this but stupidly forgot to take a picture.
The start button is held captive by a brass clip. On the opposite site is a chrome tab that joins in in keeping the start button from leaving through the front of the dash.
Here's 2 pictures of the brass clip:

As you can see, it's to the right of the words Engine Start.
And in this picture, you can see the chrome tab on the opposite side:

To get the start button off, use a small screwdriver to gently press in the brass clip. Then push the body of the start button against the screwdriver, watching to see the chrome tab clear the lip in the radio assembly. It doesn't take too much force to get it to come out.
