I mount mine in the center right below the rearview. That way it has a clear direct view toward the back and it's at the highest point which gives you the best advantage for early spotting. I ran the cable up and around the windshield behind the plastic parts (easy to take off by removing the visor) and hard wired it to the 12v ignition cable off my radio harness. That way it turns on with my car. I also bought the remote mount and placed it on my steering column so I never have to look too far away from the road or reach too far for the mute button.

BTW, if you do a search, you'll come up with a million different ways to mount it. Even one guy that hid it in his secret compartment.

I did the exact same thing except I mount mine to the left of the rear view mirror as close to the top of the windshield and sun visor as I can. I use the suction cup mount. This is the best install, IMO. I do not use the visor clip because it does not mount securly. It will shake and vibrate quite a bit. Also, the curl on the visor clip hits the bottom of the windshield frame and does not allow the sun visor to go up all the way.

A small piece of velcro on the dash, the mating piece on the V1, and the V1 hardwire kit under the drivers kick panel with a black telephone cord of the perfect length hidden between the two.

Very discrete, easy to remove and replace, can just throw my driving hat over it when I park for security, or if there is a cop nearby.

The range reduction I get by it being mounted a little lower is really undetectable and has *never* cause me to not get early enough warning.

I'm gonna do what Ricks did, and mould a custom fiberglass dashboard piece up where the sun visor goes and mount it in there It looks supercool and I give him credit for such a great idea.
