I am completely new when it comes to wiring stuff ...
here is what I wanted to do..

I saw Modifry's footwell light module... however, I would like to have the ability to turn on the neons whenever I want independent to the door switch.

I think this should be easier... wiring it to the lighter socket?
what would I need?

I currently have a set of neons that plugs into the lighter socket, however, I don't what that plug thingee to stick out all the time (gets in the way when I shift) so I would like to wire it and put a small switch somewhere in the car...

My problem is, I don't know where to get power and where to ground...
what else extra do I need besides a new switch?

thanks for reading...

I have mine hooked up under my dash in the fuse box, I tapped into the lighter fuse and if you look you'll see a bunch of factory wires already creating a ground point for you.

See my thread on my windscreen light production model (first version) for a pic of the fuse box. Also, do a search as I posted a schematic a year or two ago on how to get the neons to come on with the doors and with a switch.
