Default I can't seem to get AM stations.

Flame me if you want, but I drive state to state atleast twice a month and like to listen to AM talk sometimes to keep me awake sometimes. I used to get AM w/ my factory radio, but I switched to an older Kenwood CD player and AM wouldn't come in. I figured it was because the HU was old, so I bought another Kenwood cd/mp3 and I still can't get AM. FM works fine. Anyone else have this problem? I have a Kenwood 4 ch amp, kenwood components in the door and kenwood 6.5 in the rear. I can't seem to figure it out. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

When you connected the harness, did you connect the Power Antenna wire? If you didn't then you will not get AM and FM stations will be weak.

Yep, there's a wire that should be powered for the AM amplifier...see my webpage for a pinout.

I've got a Kenwood head unit and I have the same problems. I went to listen to a baseball game one day and didn't get a single AM station! Thanks for bringing it up cause I just assumed it was the stereo and I wouldn't bother worrying about it! I'll check this out tonight too!

So the one that I need to connect on my Kenwood is the Orange one? I don't really understand the Pinout, what does "NC" mean? And yes, I installed the stereo myself and also the speakers, I kind of know what I'm doing...

I don't know what color the power antenna wire is on the Kenwood. But the instructions should call it a Power Antenna. I believe "NC" means "No Connection"

I had also installed HU's in the past but this is the first time I did one with an amplifer on the antenna. I initially did not connect it and had no AM and FM was weak when I wasn't near the station. Once I connected the wires everything worked.

THANKS MAN! That was the problem. Also, this is my first MP3 player and I'm never going back. It's just so darn convenient.
