Ok.....

I would like everyone who posts/hangs out in the Electronics section to please read all the sticky threads, and MEMORIZE THEM!!!. The board is getting bombarded with threads that are in the faq or the stick sections...i.e dash control threads, (there are 3 in the top 5) and right on top there is a sticky on it. I am going to ask Jim (electronics moderator) to delete ALL posts regarding the dash controls, unless it is something specific, and not in the sticky thread. We like to help members as best as possible, and many of us are quite tired of repeating and explaining certain things.

I am in the process of making a full equipment faq, of all hardware, speakers, head units, subwoofers, amplifiers, with specs, photos, etc......When I finish that, that should help unclutter the forum with "what speakers should I get"

I realize that a forum when everyone goes "use the search" dies really fast, but I want this community to grow, and educate everyone, rather than spend time on questions that have been beaten to death.

don't we already have that?

that definitely could be a nice addition to the current FAQ, which probably could use some cleaning as well... i know i have a few extraneous posts in the FAQ that could use deleting...

This is my two cents, and it's worth about that, maybe less.

Needed sections:

1. Connecting my ipod to my HU" section.
We're getting many of those. i learned today that you cannot connect an ipod to a stock HU in the o4. no Clarion data to RCA harness available for the o4. WTF?!

2. Hardwiring a radar detector.

3. A really good diagram & photos of wiring an entire sound system.
  • wiring amps /amp wiring options
  • putting in new speakers, andys2k could've used one, plus if you want to change out the speaker wires what's are the best methods?
  • wiring power supply properly
  • wiring harness / DCI to headunit
  • power down one side, rca's down the other. which panels need to come out?
  • where to connect the ground wires

Sort of what lucid has done, just more complete.

IMO this should all be together under a "wiring your system" thread. That way you don't have to do different searches for each part of putting it all together.

This is second nature to many of you guys but for some of us it is entirely new, so we'd like to know how it's done. proper. that way we can do it, too, without redundant questions.[

Of course we can't expect PA to come up with it all. This would be an extended group project. Extra Bling Points will be given to the most active members. We could gather and edit, gather and edit, gather and edit....

i'm such a goober. jeez

I would be willing to start a thread like they have in the Under the Hood forum were there are links to specific threads that answer the key questions. I just need people to write and illustrate the threads. Then provide me with the links.

Here is the example I'm talking about: Under the Hood FAQ's

yeah ipods rock. If you have any use for music on the go whatsoever, it is a useful device. If you never listen to a walkman or a mobile cd player, then you probably don't need one. I got mine specifically for my car. It allows me to store up to 3500 songs in a device that's slightly larger than a deck of cards & wieghs less than my cds do, by far. For the S it's perfect fit 'cause who want's to be meesing with cds in a drivers cockpit?

BUT, It doesn't have the quality of sound thing worked out yet. i.e it's ownly hard wireable through 3.5 mm to rca jack.

YET, I look into my crystal ball and see a-i net working seamlessly with an ipod.

This is a good idea.

I can do the "how to hook up the amps section because mine will be going back into the car in about 2 weeks :crossesfingers: as well as the wiring into the doors.

Yea......Im making a FAQish document about all the hardware all of us recommend, pricing, budget setups, etc......the faq is good, but incomplete. I can make one on wiring a radar as well.

Darkknight can do the wiring, as I can do it, but his car is already in pieces, so easier for him to take pictures.

Phil, if you can, make a diagram on how to wire different subs, SVC/DVC 1ohm - 4ohm, dual 4 ohm....to a mono amp, 2 channel amp, 4 channel, etc.....You simply know a lot more about this than I do.

I just think that all these additions would make for a much better environment.

Anyone else who can give advice on already tested equipment (only something you have FIRST hand experience, not what a shop told you) feel free to write a review, where you got it, problems/issues with it, how much, etc......ill give the eta of about 2 weeks for it to be 100% done.
