glad to hear it's sounding more appropriate.

still, 9 times out of 10, whenever we get someone here who posts 'this sounds terrible! where is the bass?' it's usually out of phase or an improperly wired crossover...

Oh, don't get me wrong, I suspected my handywork as much as the rest of you

For example, I discovered why the FM reception was horrible and the AM nonexistent on the earlier head unit. I never connected the remote power lead to the factory harness! Oops!

actually,

The MOSFET chips on the new pioneers aren't bad. you get much more power than you used to out of these things, i'm not saying 50 watts, but you can get 20 or 30, not unlike the new Alpines. So i'm not surprised sctboy got better performance from his new HU.

Of course all HU's power pales when compaired to a dedicated amp.
