Default Polk DB651 6.5 plus Alpine Head Unit

So I have had my S2000 for about a year. One thing is for sure the stock 6.5 speakers in the front of my 2001 S2000 SUX!!!

So I went ahead and installed an Alpine head unit. Then I went ahead and bought the Polk DB651 6.5 WOW!

With this combination alone, the sound is much louder, clearer and the bass is great for the price. ($100 a pair) The new slim design will fit perfectly with no cutting or additions.

It definitely blows away the stock Honda head unit and speakers. I recommend this setup if anyone is going to replace the head unit and speakers.

My planned spring 2008 additions will be an amplifier for the speakers and a sub. I might add an extra pair of Polk tweeters somewhere in the cabin. I can't wait!

later

I'm currently running the same setup but powered by a JL amp. Very good stuff.

I will be upgrading to components in the spring for no reason other than to move the tweeter up on the door. My leg covers the tweeter and when I bring a passenger along its even harder to hear the clean highs.

I found a great deal for $80 shipped. MSRP was $300. It has been on display at an audio shop that was closing down.

Ebay has a lot of good deals on display amps. If you can find one listed by a good shop, they'll have made sure it was never abused by customers.

Of course, it always helps to become friends with the local high-end car audio shop(s).

Yes. I could not believe it. Amp was on display for a year or so and never pushed hard. Shop was closing and they just wanted to scrape some quick change for their merchandise.
