Any other ideas on locations for adding extra speakers? I like the idea of a 4 speaker set-up and not adding too much weight or volume to the trunk via a subwoofer.

HS,

Did you drill holes in the metal for the top two screws to mount the speakers ?

I got some Pioneer 4x6 speakers for this purpose and I plan on adding the speakers this week.

Possible theory for vents - they are for airbags. In the event airbags deploy they account for sudden displacement of air volume rather than blowing the roof off

Looks good, how do they sound firing into the back of the seat? Does it have the "in the next room" effect?

Thanks. I'll pick up some of those screws from OSH tomorrow. I'll probably have to get one of those rubber hammers to bend the metal. Any better ideas ?

I guess I could use a regular hammer and use some cloth to protect the metal from scratching.

Use a deadblow hammer that is plastic, or tape a rag to the metal and persuade the metal with a regular hammer. It just needed to be bent back a little. I had to bend up a little too, but it was not that hard.

For the sound quality, I have actually had to fade the volume to the front speakers about 3 points. The sound is awesome. My speakers did have small cross overs that send only highs to the tweeter and mids to the speaker, so this could make a slight difference. It was definately worth the mod for me. I am an audiophile, so I am critical of the sound and it sounds great.

If you are looking for ear piercing sound, this will not be the mod for you unless you add an amp on them. I have started to listen to music as reasonable levels as I have gotten older so I did not want an amp on these. They do not rock the house, but it is much improvement from just two speakers.

The best way to descibe the sound, is that the driver actually hears the pass speaker and the pass hears the driver speaker. The sound moves around the console to your ears due to how close they are to the center console.

Yes, I was thinking of doing the second version ;-) ...

I got a pair of 3 way 4x6 pioneers (TS-A4674R A-Series). The advertised frequency response looks good until you take a look at the box and it says that it's measured at -20dB ;-) ... mean trick but they should still sound ok.

I am looking for quality, not quantity so this mod should be perfect.

BTW, where did you get the extra pins for the rear speakers from ? I didn't take out the radio yet but you mentioned that the pins are not in the harness so I am wondering where to get these from.

Are you still using the stock main speakers ?
