Instrument lights go on and off
Hey, I just purchased a 2004 S, and while driving at night noticed some of the instrument lighting is not working properly. The initial thought was the lights need to be changed, but then when I hit a bump in the road, the AC Air flow button on the right top side went on. When I tap the dash it goes off.
So is this just a bad connector or bad switch somewhere? I will remove the instrument panel this weekend but was wondering if this is a known issue with the S, I don't want to replace the bulbs if they are not bad. Also, would the small 12v lamps from Radio Shack work for all the buttons on the instrument panel?

Thanks, that is a great write up, but if the lights are going on and off, when I tap the dash, could it be the connectors are bad? Or the bulbs connection has corrosion?
Also, anyone use radio shack bulbs for this? They have a shorter and a longer version, cost is about $1 for a pack of (2) I just did this on my RL, but you have to wind the metal coil around the plastic plug which will go into the instrument panel.

this was happening to me for the "roof" button when i first got my S. sometimes at night the light would be off until i tapped it, turned out the bulb was on its way out. i replaced it and its been fine ever since
edit: id go to honda for the bulbs

Thanks, I just replaced all the bulbs on all switches and layouts........took some time, I used radio shack bulbs $1 each, and it worked out fine, but I did put some minor scuffs on the finish
