Default Ipod with EOM head unit

I'm going to keep my stock head unit for now and want to hook up an Ipod instead of XM or CD changer. I have the adaptor to run an RCA or 3.5 mm plug (Ipod output) into the head unit. I'm wondering if the ipod can be set to turn on and shut off when the power goes on and off like an OEM CD player. If not, can I get a different adaptor or some special car Ipod adaptor? My S2000 is MY2006 and I haven't seen any advertised Ipod adapters for it yet, just the generic adapter that accepts any RCA or 3.5mm input. Anyone know? I just don't want to have to manually start the Ipod every time I get into the car, and I don't want it running 24/7.

The iPod adapters that connect to the 3.5mm plug will NOT be able to control the iPod at all.

You need something that will connect to the Dock connector on the iPod.

Check out http://www.mp3yourcar.com

I believe there is also a "factory" option now for an iPod adapter. It should be available from your dealer.

There is also a product by USASpec that you can purchase from crutchfield.com and other locations. $120 so not too expensive.

I installed and it works well. I did add in an extender cable from pccables.com to run the ipod hookup a little farther to the glove box between the seats.
