How long have you had the Ice Link? I had mine for 2 hours and it failed.... and from what I hear I am not the only one to experience this. Now to make things worse, the folks at mp3yourcar.com want me to uninstall everything and send it back BEFORE they send me another unit for replacement.. So after $230 I am stuck with a dead unit which will not even see the iPod anymore and the problem of waiting a week to send the unit back and get another which might also be a dud.

I've heard a lot of people saying that they've had issues with their ice link. I've had mine for 4 or 5 months with no issues. Also, my friend has had one in his 3-series BMW for at least a year again without issue. As someone else said, it's important to mount the circuit board someplace cool (as in not the transmission tunnel). Also, I bought mine from Logjam Electronics with the docking cable (as opposed to the docking cradle) for $200.

I didn't see on the site, but does this setup provide power to the iPod. My 3rd gen's battery is so-so and if this doesn't charge I probably wouldn't use it much.

My unit was placed in the front of the car before the radio and lower than the head unit. This is not the transmission tunnel but where they show to install the older NEO unit.

Mikey, what year is your car and what unit do you have?

i've heard from several people that charging things, like your cell phone, through your car while driving is not good as the current fluctuates with engine speed and will shorten battery life. i imagine this wouldn't be good for any electronics, especially for an ipod.

I had a neo ion installed in my car and it worked great. I have since taken it out and replace the system with an Alpine deck and the ipod adaptor, which is a more expensive route to go. The Neo Ion is a wonderful product. I am looking to sell mine if anyone is interested in it. I actually only had it installed in the car for about a week before installing the Alpine. I could let it go for 175 plus shipping costs. I have all of the boxes and paperwork to go along with it. Mine will work with 2000-2003 models and I would have to check on the 2004-05 radios but I dont see why it wouldn't work with those as well.

PM me if interested or if you have general questions about hooking one of these adaptors up to your car.

The neo does not work with '04-05. This is why everyone is having so many problems finding a solution.
