I am still running the OEM battery - almost 5 years old in the Arizona desert heat.

Just wanted to give you guys an update. I contacted Optima about the issue I had, and they quickly responded back and are making everything right. The D51 model battery that we use in our vehicles was discontinued due to quality issues, but Optima is dedicated to ensuring their customers are happy with their product so if any of you have had problems with your Optima Batteries, I suggest you contact Optima @ their customer service e-mail address: questions@optimabatteries.com and they will take care of you.
I have never had the level of customer service that I received from Optima and their parent company Johnson Controls. After dealing with them I went from being a disillusioned customer, to a dedicated customer for life. I just wish there were more companies out there that were as interested in ensuring their customers were happy with their products. If in the future they once again produce a battery for our vehicles I will definately get one, and I would recommend them to anyone.

for most applications a SamsClub battery is functional and good fitment
just spend your money elsewhere
Just returned mine as it was on the fritz.....Optima to refund Full Purchase Price
Not too much of a hassel as I contacted them directly and sent over the receipt. They wanted me to take the battery back to a Sears Auto. Facility for them to do a once over and call Optima directly with the results. Once Sears called, Optima authorized the refund.
It will be my last Optima...not worth the S.D.S. (sudden death syndrome).

Jeez, still going huh?
Well, like I said before, dont give up on Optima just yet. It is only the D51s that have this problem. All other optimas are great. My D51 is still going strong, as well as my big boy red top sitting in my RL.
Bad QC on the 51s I guess.

I received my full price back from Optima...the whole process was actually pain-free. I have to hand it to them for their customer service.
