I've had mine now for about a year and a half and it's working fine. I keep the car in the garage, but it was spending 8-9 hours a day out in a parking lot during negative temperatures and a few times when it was -60 with the windchill (I know battaries don't feel windchill, but ambient was still around -20F).

Mine's been doing fine. No complaints so far.

Well I'm bringing this back up to the top. Just had my 15 month old yellow top Optima die on me yesterday. Taking it to the shop I bought if from to have it checked out.

Knowing my luck they won't have another in stock.

Yep

They checked it out and it was only outputting 5v, they're going to leave it charging overnight and run some tests... should know more on Wednesday. Unfortunately since the 1 year free replacement is now up, I will have to pay something since their second year is a "pro-rated" style warranty. If it's over $50 I'm going to scratch it and go with a regular battery. Chalk up another unsatisfied customer of Optima's Yellow Top battery.

Nah, dont waste your time. Its dead. You are getting 5V because you probably have one living cell. My friend's optima died, and we tried everything known to man to bring it back. Nothing. I use it now to test lights for systems and stuff, but it doesnt put out enough juice to start a car. Mine is still going strong. Guess I got a factory freak.

Good luck with a replacement.

Just wanted to give you guys an update. I contacted Optima about the issue I had, and they quickly responded back and are making everything right. The D51 model battery that we use in our vehicles was discontinued due to quality issues, but Optima is dedicated to ensuring their customers are happy with their product so if any of you have had problems with your Optima Batteries, I suggest you contact Optima @ their customer service e-mail address: questions@optimabatteries.com and they will take care of you.

I have never had the level of customer service that I received from Optima and their parent company Johnson Controls. After dealing with them I went from being a disillusioned customer, to a dedicated customer for life. I just wish there were more companies out there that were as interested in ensuring their customers were happy with their products. If in the future they once again produce a battery for our vehicles I will definately get one, and I would recommend them to anyone.

My yellow top recently died on me as well. I was stranded at an S2KI meet and had to pop start my car to get going. Testing at Pep Boys revealed that the battery was so dead it would not respond to voltage tests, let alone hold a charge. I just emailed them so we'll see what they say. Going back to a stock battery in a significantly powerful system in an S2000 is not pleasant at all.
