Its the little things in life....
So as embarrassed as I am to admit: I cant figure out why my keyless entry has stopped working for me. I bought the S2k about 2 months ago, worked just fine, then after a couple weeks its gets harder and harder to get the car to unlock for me... It ends up stopping all together, so of course I put a new battery in my key fob and the red light still lights up when I press the lock and unlock buttons but the car seems to ignore all attempts at locking it as I walk away. is there something as simple as a fuse for this I haven't found yet? or am I just a Derp?
Fuses either work or not, they don't usually go bad over the course of several weeks.
Is it just the lock function that doesn't work, or unlock too? Driver side only or passenger also? How about the trunk? If any of these work reliably we can rule out the keyfob transmitter and receiver in the keyless module.
I think there have been several reports of the relays in the keyless entry module going bad - the contacts wear out and stop making a good connection, which could explain the gradual degradation and eventual failure. Technically it's possible to replace the relays but I think most people would not have the skills to replace them and will need to get a new keyless module.
Maybe this is something I need to look into - refurbishing keyless entry modules.
