I have a 2000 so I don't have tweeters. Similar to you, I'm just going for speakers that fit with no modifications. FWIW, I was able to fit the nonslim component Polks in my AP2 (MY'04) without any problems.

Well, I installed mine on Sunday with the help of three or four other members who happened to be at my house for a meet. 
As advertised, they fit the baskets without modification. I kept the stock tweeter connected and they seem to work. I have not given it a real test drive yet, but in the garage, they sound better than stock with a much richer tone, especially at the bottom. We will see how they do with the top down on the highway. That is the real test.

I got mine installed last week by one of our awesome forum members. They went in without a hitch.
As far as the sound quality goes, it's a vast improvement over stock.
It doesn't have much bass/midbass IMO probably because they are slim speakers.
Overall I'm happy for now.
