I really want this! I've been thinking about just buying the one for the OEM location, but I would much prefer this one.

Update with some prototype production units. Unfortunately, my 3D printer source didn't identify which was printed with which technology, and I'm very new and haven't seen the differences before. So my best guess is the first couplee pics are of MJF. These are made from Nylon 12 and should be heat resistant to anything the car will see. It doesn't have the UV resistance that ASA has though.

Here is what I suspect is SLS

Here are close ups of the MJF

I'm still waiting on the ASA bezel sample. I'll update when it arrives. I welcome any thoughts on the samples so far.

It has to be appreciated that people are still investing time and energy into creating parts for this car!

Although I don't have the guts to hack into my red dashboard, I am still interested.

Super interested in a custom LHD navigation bezel. The fit looks really promising! I bought my car used with the dash cut with the RHD OEM bezel and it'd be nice to finally get this flush.

@bruthaboost Do you have the 3D scanned mirrored file that you'd be willing to share?

I have all the parts scanned and have working prototypes in hand. I'm finished with heat testing. I placed them ON TOP of the dash during this last record heat TEXAS summer and it softened ever so slightly, but survived. The bezel won't be getting this kind of abuse in the dash so it should be fine.

Is there an update on this? I’d love to get a lhd bezel. I have the mounting cage already.

Another update. Here are the results of the test fit with all 3D printed parts:

I like the spacing from the ILX to the bezel up top. Obviously the bottom and sides need some work. I'm going to close up the other 3 sides for a better fit around the head unit. The amount the head unit is recessed also is an issue. If I recess the headunit another 1mm back, there will be a small gap in the upper left corner but will look much better in the other 3 corners.

There's also the question of how will this fit with other head units. I have no idea. I picked the alpine ILX becase I've had great experiences with alpine units. I know there are other shallow mount head units, and depending on how this goes I may explore fitting other models. The developing costs of this project are just growing at the moment.

Sorry this is taking so long, but it's going to get there.

Glad to see you’re still at it. Don’t forget to test drive it when the sun is out. I’m getting some glare on mine. Thinking about adding some spacers on the right side to tilt it more towards the drivers seat. You’re viewing it at an angle and the sun is washing it out, hoping a more direct view will help.

FYI the ILX fits great, I drilled some openings in the rear of the OEM housing for cable plug routing and venting.

Default Really cool

Subscribed.

great work. If we could package this up in a kit I think there would be a lot of owners out there interested.

while I love the driver focus of the S2KI, this is good. I lived in Japan, I didn’t know they offered a nav setup.
