key fob revisited
Took my MY00 to the Honda dealership yesterday to get my key fob reprogrammed (wasn't functional when I bought it a few weeks ago). The LED light came on fine, and when the service guy tried the whole "turn on the car, press lock, turn off" thing, you would hear a chip that it was being recognized; however, at the end it never unlocked/locked the doors or audibly sounded the alarm.
The alarm light on the radio still blinked though. So the guy tried a brand new MY00 key fob and a few after market ones with the same FCC code, and they all acted the same way. They show promise during the on/off period, but never trigger the locks or alarm in the end. He then said it'd cost me $90/hour to have a technician try to figure it out. Before I pay for that, has anyone come across this before? Could it be something as easy as a blown fuse?

If some (but not all) of the fuctions of the alarm are functioning, I wouldn't think that it is a fuse problem--but I don't know for sure. I do know, that before you spend $90/hr to get it diagnosed, consider an aftermarket alarm. The functionality of the OEM alarm is limited at best and comparable--or better--features can be had in an aftermarket alarm for probably about the same as you'd be spending to repair a 6 year old OEM alarm.

StronglyIt is what I would do if I was in your spot
The light on the radio has nothing to do with the alarm. There isnt a chirp when learning the remote. At the end the doors should just cycle through the locks. Not all S's have alarms, some just keyless entry. They use 2 different remotes, make sure you have the right one.
If indeed it did chirp, is there a siren inder the hood?
