Just wondering if any of the units with the motorized screens that flip out will fit where the stock deck resides..i really want to put one in my car but don't want to chop up stuff..is there enough room between the heater and lcd screen? any input would be helpful..specifically , i'm looking at the panasonic 9000 unit with the dvd..thx

You rang?!

When either of my multimedia monitors (CVA-1005 or IVA-C800)come out of their DIN-chasis they come out completely horizontally before they go 'vertical'... that full horizontal 'extraction' is ~5in. That should present a very awkward situation for the shifter. I didn't even consider that location because of the tight space and viewing angle.

If you have to have a monitor, I would recommend an add-on monitor with a stock-ish headunit... or cut away like I did! a new dash is only ~$325.00 online (so restoring to stock is relatively cheap).

thanks for the tip..i stopped by a place after work and they said there's no way in hell that they could do that..they could fit a screen in there but would have to do some custom molding and all that stuff which i don't really want to do down there..i don't mind cutting the dash up either but in the end i think i'm just gonna get two visor screens and hook up my ps2 so i'll have the ability to play games and watch dvd..(phew!, what a run on sentence..) ..one more thing, if i want to do the two visor screens and the ps2, will i need a new deck or will a stock one do? thanks for your help..

Lemme guess, you're going to sit in your car playing GT3 driving a VR S2000. Anyone see the irony?

I confess I'd love to get a JDM dash with the screen and satellite navigation but I think TV/DVD/PS2 is a bit daft in this car. I can't see it being comfortable to sit in and watch movies, particularly if the screen is mounted where the current head unit is. In the dash would have to be the way to go. Still, I'm sure I'd rather be driving, or sitting at home with my home theatre system.

i've decided not to mount it where the stock head unit is..i might have to do something like shaner..haven't really decided..might go that way or perhaps put the visor screens in..so much to think about..

Just a note: I don't watch DVDs on mine... It was intended as a "can I do it" kind of thing... just a sporting thing. Sure the DVD navigation is neat and all but I rarely use it...
