Looking for all you wiring Guru's!
First off wanted in introduce myself, i bought this s2k a long time ago, and have never really had any problems with it, but now it has come time to sell it and i wanted to fix the problems which have not bothered my before, but may bother the new owner/buyer. its a 2002 Sebring Silver s2k, but was salvaged due to theft a few years back, i bought it off the original owner, and he had insurance just pay him for loss and fixed it all himself. Long story short, im having some wiring issues that im hoping and praying wont be super hard to figure out.
The roof switch does not work for up/down functions. First off i checked the switch (continuity by the manual) and apparently it all checks out. I have come to the conclusion that somewhere there is a short and the wires that actually power the motor are not getting power.
(if i put a direct +12v to the up or down side of the switch, the roof goes up or down without a problem, but the switch itself does not work.)
Under more careful searching under the dash, the b6 wire i think it was (the solid white wire for vss thats under the pass side dash) is cut, i tried to reconnect best i could, and it made no difference at all to vehicle or the switch....
My question would be, is there a certain area that i should check wiring on before i start ripping half the car apart? Using the manual i came to conclusion that the a9/10 (i believe off top of head for roof) have a short out somewhere. The fuses for roof are all good, and the motor i know for sure works because if i put a direct positive to it it goes up/down. has anyone ever experienced any of these problems???? Much or any help IS VERY appreciated!!! i just dont want to sell someone a problematic car...

Before I give any wiring info, lets be sure you have the E-Brake hand pulled up? There is an interlock switch (To ground) on the e-brake that has to be closed before the roof switch will function.
So you have tried the roof with teh e-brake pulled up?

yep, definately tried that, forgot to mention it in the post up there, sorry... amazing thing is, if the ebrake switch is unplugged, i can not open/close the top even if i do direct +12v to it... deff tried that though.... thanks!
so you've had a s2000 for a long time and haven't been able to use the top? dang that sucks...
I was going to ask about the e-brake issue, but it seems that has been covered...can you re-rig the switch with the +12v wire?

I have had it for about 2 years and had the top on the manual disable, so i always manually put it up or down, or just pull up the center console and just throw power onto either up or down side...
i was thinking of re-rigging the switch somehow, but i dont know how it would be possible. basically the motor will not stop the up or down function unless i take off the direct +12v, so im kinda in a pickle...
can anyone possibly pull up thier switch and check it for me somehow? which one is getting power? and if even more possible, where the power is coming from? im thinking up gonna rip apart all car today in a hunt... :/

are you applying power directly to the motors, to the controller, or to the
wire coming from the switch? You probably know this already if you
have the manual, but if at the switch, from the Helms manual, looks like
power for the switch comes from the ignition switch, through fuse #8,
through a green/black wire to fuse #12, then through a black/white wire to
the top switch.
I'd check for power at fuse #12, though apparently this is also for the
wiper motor, which you probably would have noticed if it wasn't working.
If you have power at #12, but not at the switch, you'll need to trace the
black/white to find the problem.

that may be the problem ^^ if it goes to the wiper washer motor, my wiper washer motor fuse is taken out, when i put one in there, the wiper washer motor goes on, but does not turn off....
i tried to put in a fuse and try the top, but to no avail did it work... im gonna try unplugging the wiper washer motor and going from there....
if i turn on the wipers though, they work, just not the washer, but oddly, the trunk light flashes...
im really not liking this whole mess of wires... time to go spread everything out... thanks so much for help!
