Ok so I'm waiting for the pionner DEH-P710BT HU to release next month. It's supposed to be phenomenal for the price and I like the price.

I have a set of boston components already in the car. And I have a jl amp that I'm going to install next couple days.
So here is my questions:
i wanted to get the jl audio stealthbox but i hear that they aren't that good.
So what are my options on something similar to the jl box?
The box can fit flush to the trunk instead of being recessed like the JL box.
Also where can I find a really good high end speaker wire ?, I want to have crystal clear sound without any noise or static.

What sub do you plan on running?

I highly recommend the WLAURENT Darkside Subs trunk well enclosure with a Stereo Integrity Mag v4. As far as sound quality goes, you can't beat it. Has extremely minimal distortion, and can handle up to 1000W in that combination. I play 500W through mine and it's plenty enough to hear the bass on the highway with the top down.

But then, this really depends on your goals. Are you looking for a sub that "thumps" or one that just plays the music back accurately? If you want a sub that thumps, you'll need a custom enclosure and something like a JL W6 or IDMax. While both of those sound great, they will "thump" more than the SI (the thump is actually distortion of the sub). Both require more than 1cu ft of mounting depth, however - and that requires a custom enclosure. The SI/DSS combo is perfectly mated (1 cu ft), 5.5" mounting depth (even though I think the enclosure has a higher mounting depth, just not enough for a JL W6 or IDMax), and the SI can handle 2x the power of, and sound better than, either the W6 or IDMax at less than half the price.

As for speaker wire...speaker wire is all pretty much the same (as long as it's not cheap chinese stuff that will corrode). Just make sure that the gauge is big enough to carry the power the distance you need.

I was planing on staying with JL audio.
I always wanted a w6 but I also wanted a stealthbox ever since I had my del sol.
So I was leaning more towards a 10"w3.
Not to mention that my local audio shop is giving really good prices on JL suba and amps.

I guess you can say that I'm looking for the thump, but I want to stay from the ghetto rattle. I want something that delivers a clean thump. It doesn't have to be that extreme.

I think that I might be satisfied with the JL audio stealthbox but for the price I think that I may be better off getting that ebay $75 box and since I can get the subs cheap get that and give it a try.
I wanted to get some advice as to what more people run.

I bought the subwoofer to complete my system this week, but I have to put the box purchase off until next month. I could buy the "ebay box" now, but I really think putting the subwoofer in the middle of my cargo space is suboptimal (pun intended )

I'm buying a WLaurent enclosure because it allows me to keep more useful storage space. My S2000 is my daily driver, and sometimes I even deliver catering orders for my restaurant in the S, so space is important.

 

so I got my sub today.
I got the 10"w3. It was on sale buy one get one free. I paid $249 plus tax for one and got the other free. I know someone that wanted one so we are going go go half price each. That puts the sub at about $135 with tax.

Now I need to decide witch box to get. I'm leaning towards the ebay box right now that way I will get something similar to the stealthbox for less and if I don't like it I have the option of returning the sub and using the money towards the jl stealthbox.
If I don't like neither setup I will get the Wlaurent box so I can get the 10"w6.

I still need some goos quality speaker wire.

Oh and I will get to see the HU on Tuesday. The shop was sent some pioneer equipment to do a shop build off and they will have the truck there for final touches, So I will be able to mess around with it and I will be able to get a price on the HU and maybe i will be able to get it before they actually start selling it. They just want my car for a photoshoot.

 

you could have got the w6 for the ebay box. You will enjoy the w3 though. I had the stealthbox and the ebay box and prefer the ebay box hands down. Looks way better and sounds great.

The only reason I got it was because of your review. I was set on the stealthbox but then I saw what you said and got me thinking.

One question to you 9k fever. You sure the amp didn't just make up the difference in sound ?
I mean I saw that you had the 300/4 with the stealth box, bridged that's only 150 watts going to the sub and they say that the minimum is 150 and optimum is 300 watts.
