Originally I had an IMAX. I replaced that with a free HP from a friend - junk, tossed. I just bought an Epson 1670 but it's going back today. The process to get a "partial" scan on it was unbelieveable. I do a 16-page magazine every other month, and I partial scan documents/photos all the time. I not looking for one the one-button monkey operates type but since it's club money I'm spending I'd like to keep it around $150 or so. Any suggestions would appreciated.

 

This might be out of your price range (not really sure, though), but take a look at those scanners that you hold in your hand and you run the thing across what you are trying to scan as opposed to putting the material "in" the scanner. This might be far more handy for what you are doing with it.
