Default Looking for a woofer

Does anyone have any experience with these subs? I'm looking at the JL Audio 10W6V2, the 10" Apline type-R, or 10" Rockford Fosgate P3. Just wondering if anyone has any opinions on these subs specifically. I plan on using darkside-subs trunk well enclosure. I have no idea what amp I want to run, or what component speakers I want to run. All help is much appreciated!

how loud do you want it? pick your sub first than pick your amp to go with that to match the specs. from what i have been hearing the sundown subs are really good too.

oh and one other one. these are new and the price is really good for the specs on them.

I have owned over 5 alpine woofers 3 of which were the Type R. They are great subs for the price! I recently spanned out and bought the new Sundown Audio SA-8 and WOW .

It's an 8" and beats like my old type r 12" all day. Look into them. The magnet is almost half the size of the sub! It moves a shit ton of air in my ported box, AND IM ONLY RUNNING IT AT 4 OHMS LOL.

Not to be arrogent but if you want something that looks good and sounds even better, you need to go the route i went:

Wow those sundown subs seem too good to be true. Haha, I'm gonna look into it a little bit. I plan on using a ZEenclosure, I really like the look of that ported one you showed earlier. But I wonder if they can do that, with a protective cover for the sub in case I want to use my trunk. Lol

Yeah thats the idea I had in mind as well, but the excursion of this sub is pretty high (up and down movement). So I think a bar style grill will work best. I felt as though the flat sheet with grill built in would be too close of clearance.

BUT I cannot seem to find a manufacturer for 8" bar style grills. Only 10" and up. I might have to make my own at my dads shop. They look like this:

This car is my daily so I planned around the idea that there WILL be groceries in the trunk once a week haha!

Yes I couldnt be more happy, and so will you. People are just as surprised as I was the first time I hear it. I firmly believe it is because it is in a ported enclosure though. Ported for me from now on out

lol yeah ported boxes are very nice. i think the sundown subs are so cheap because they are not a big name yet in the market and are still kind of new so they keep the price down to get there name out.

Yeah it's going to be my daily, I think a bar grill is a good idea. How did you go about getting a ported enclosure from ZEenclosures? I kind of want to go for the SA-10. Do you have any videos up of your sub so I have an idea what it sounds like?

I have decided on the sundown sa-10! Now I need to figure out which amp to buy that will power this sucker, without burning out, while providing good sq and little to no distortion.
