Cool Lost radio code

hey i know this is going to sound a bit stupid but i was working on some wiring on the car and decidd to unhook the battery. Well, i turn it on an the radio has a code i need to put in. I took it to honda the other day for some fluid changes and they told me it would be 90$ to get that radio to work (to get the code). Can anyone tell me how to take the radio out so i can get the serial number to call honda with?

This should be here if you search.

Open the radio door, then with a flat screw driver pop the tabs in the vent directly above it (separating the vent it from the dash). Wiggle and pull on the door (pretty hard) and the door, the radio surround, and that vent should come out. then it's four screws (you can see them) that hold the radio and it's subframe in place.

Try this: turn the radio on, press the 1 & 6 together till you get a code. Call honda and give them the number. Mine didn't come with one as well so when i unplugged the battery,i took it to my friend who works for Honda and he showed me the trick. Hope it helps.

That 1 & 6 button trick only works with 2002+ models, (I thought) there is a way to take out the radio in the FAQ.

You should try to check your manual if you still have it. The dealers normally write down the OEM radio code in the manual.

Good Luck

the 1,6 thing didn't work for mine.

All I had to do was take off the radio door/trim and I could see the serial number on the top of the radio.

I just called the dealership where I bought my car. The guy asked me to verify my name and address and then gave me the code. This was after he told me "I'm not really suppose to do this, but..."

All dealerships will you give you the code if you show them proof of ownership with your license and registration. Don't pay for the code it's an industry courtesy.
