Im considering upgrading my door speakers to these:

But im not entirely sure theyll fit w/out modification. Anyone know the max depth that we can run in the doors? Thanks!

 

the speakers in my car has a mounting depth of 3.14 inches and the magnet has a diameter of 4.76 inches. the magnet barely fit though the stock opening and just clears the window with a 3/4 inch mdf spacer. the only modification that i had to make was to trim the plastic on the door card behind the speaker grill to allow for about 1/2 of speaker excursion.

 

Bump. Anyone have experience with the ones I linked?

 

those speakers have a mounting depth of 2.06 inches and the diameter of the magnet is 3.56 inches

Just for edification's sake, the 3/4" space brought the speakers forward enough to clear the window coming down? How close did that bring the cone to the door panel? I need 3.7" mounting depth and was REALLY hoping to avoid cutting doors and glassing.

 

I'm curious also, as I'm wanting to install some focal components that are 3.08 inches mount depth.
According to Modifry, with 3/4'' spacers you have 3.12 inches to play with.
Although the earlier post said 3.14'' speakers will fit?

biggest issue i had was clearing the door card, it was very close to the inside bottom corner. i trimmed the MDF ring to the exact diameter of the speaker and mount it as high and back as possible. also trimmed the plastic in back of the door card as previously mentioned
