Default Modifry DCI compability

I just installed an alpine CDA-9856 and a pair of infiniti kappa s in my S.

I was going to buy Modifry's DCI but noticed on the compability chart that my headunit is listed specifically not to work.

Has this been updated at all? Is there some extra 'diy' I could do to make it work?

I dont wan't a pac SW1 after reading such great things about the DCI, please help!

I believe you are looking at the wired DCI which does not work with the 9856. The IR DCI should still work.

Ah I see that now!

I've always heard that the IR stuff was glitchy compared to wired?
But I guess most other IR stuff uses remotes which this doesn't seem to...

The IR receiver on the HU can sometimes be "blinded" by bright sunlight so there are occasions when you can't get commands to the HU, but other than that the functionality between IR and Wired is the same (at least for Alpine).

How about compatibility with a panasonic cq-8413u ? It has a remote and I know where the ir spot is on the head unit so I assume I'd need the ir version. And the ir is on the bottom half of the faceplate is that a problem too?
Unfortunately the head unit slides down and out so I'm still hoping it'll even fit in the car.

Any help or info would rock! Thanks
