Modifry DCI and UTE 73BT alpine, dash controls not working
Hello, my name is David. I wanted to check prior to sending the DCI back to Bob for testing to see if there was anything else anyone had tried if the DCI was not responding. I have followed all the trouble shooting tips on the instructions. I replaced the 3.5mm connector, double checked all settings on dci set to ON and appropriate to instructions. I used the alpine PnP connector, so wiring should be correct. I didn't have a voltage meter so disconnected the purple wire, still no response from dci. I called alpine and made sure there were no menu settings to turn on for use of the remote connector. The radio works perfectly, no dash controls work for the radio. Is there anything else anyone has run in to that might get this working prior to me sending this back for testing?. Thank you in advance for any help.
hi David,
Have you tried reaching out to Bob (Modifry) to discuss what you're experiencing? He's quite responsive and would likely have better suggestions than us here. I got a DCI for my Alpine HU a few months ago and it was basically just plug N play. I ended up not using his supplied PnP harness because the wiring was too short and I needed to connect the parking brake switch wire but as far as the DCI function itself everything was still 100% plug-n-play. Didn't have to do anything on the deck either.

I had this problem with the exact setup mentioned, by mere coincidence. If my experience was the same, this will have nothing to do with the headunit model or make itself, but the harness. As far as I know, Modifry has these harnesses made by a vendor for him as opposed to assembling them in-house. In my case, one of the wires was pinned in the wrong location. I'd make absolutely certain that all of the wires are lined up correctly to their corresponding counterparts when the harnesses are connected.
I had the same problem - bad power cable. Using a meter see if you have continuity from one end to the other. Also you can't change the dipswitch settings on the fly, the changes you think you made won't take.
