Im looking at installing this as well, anyone know if it possible to put this double din unit by taking out the Vent bracket? Im sure there is cutting to do...but I feel its better than cutting the dash.

experts please help.

cheers!
No, you would have to cut the dash a little.

when you say cut the dash alittle, do you mean cutting the center of the dash (upper part like how the japanese version where they put their screeens) or are you saying even if I take out the whole radio door part I still need to cut some pieces out of the dash?

I'm sure that cutting the inner bits is nessary, but will I still need to cut into visable parts of the dash?

I have done some measurments, if taken the radio door+vents, a double-din would clear.....am I wrong?

thanx

Actually both if you try to install that in the stock location you'll have to cut out the radio door and the vents out, and you will have to cut the dash a little. Do that face fold down a little?? I would think it would to insert the cd. How far does it fold down? Would it hit the shifter?
As for it clearing without cutting the dash... maybe but you need to have some type of bezel made to cover the cuts you've made. You can make anything fit if you have the money to spend.

As for installing it in the upper section of the dash like the JDM version then you have to cut the dash to make it look right.

thanx for the reply darkknight, my real question is, if a double din will fit in this area without the door and vent:

door and vent would have to go and I'll need to make a nice surrounding for that double-din. is the stuff under the factory deck easy to cut?

the kenwood Im looking at would slide out at the bottom about 1 inch and the top part would go down abit for inserting DVD/CD, so that would clear the shifter and dash, no problem there.

if I do that, do i still need to cut visable part of the dash?

I'm actually suprise that nobody in the S have done this, cos this is a very logical way of putting in a screen, maybe cos it wont work for some reason? I dont know, thats why Im asking these questions.
