mounting the amp on the sub box.
Hey guys,
Ive been receiving a great deal of help in the past few days regarding my first diy system install and i really appreciate all the help. My last question before finishing up the job pertains to amp mounting location. I found it very very difficult to mount the amp in the spare tire compartment due to the surface not being level and not having enough vertical clearance to work with a screw driver inside the spare tire compartment. I decided that i might as well just mount the amp on the side of my sub box. Is this bad for the sub or the amp in any way? the only thing i can think of is the box vibrating the amp and maybe leading to amplifier malfunction but i'm not sure. Anyone have a suggestion on how to mount the amp in the spare tire compartment? Also, will anything break if i mount the amp on the box? Thanks in advance.
Tim.

Well....IMHO, (others might disagree) I usually tend to shy away from that, unless its a must. Here are a few reasons....
1)The vibrations can/probably will set the wires loose, and a power wire isnt something you want loose.
2)The internal solder of the amp may chip off, killing the amp
3)The location of the amp may cause it to overheat.
Are these things gonna happen? Probably not. I assume you took out your spare tire....so, PM PAs2kNUT, and ask about his amp rack. This will give you a very stealthy install, easy, and trouble free.
