MP3 player in my car???
I have a CDA-7894 Alpine deck and am running an amp for my component set off the front out RCA jacks. When i hook up the RCA cables to the jacks behind the deck(Rear out) im unable to hear it play. If i turn up the volume to its max i can hear it very faintly. When i hook it up to my home stereo it plays fine. Im a bit confused any suggestions would be appreciated.
How about just buying an Alpine HU that already has an MP3 player, then order the remote converter from Lucid. I just bought a Sony MP3/CD player and the Lucid remote adapter works beautifully. It's a simple install, and all the dash radio controls are still fully functional.

I made an adapter to plug into my 4 channel amp. It is a 3.5mm plug to two pair of RCAs. For long drives i just unhook the headunits RCA's to the amp and hook up the Ipod adapter cable RCAs to my amp. It isn't the best solution but it sounds way better than an FM modulator.

am i to understand that you're connectiong your MP3 player to the Rear OUT RCA's on your head unit, and it isn't playing through the HU?? and you're worried that this is a problem?
There's more than one way to skin a cat my friend. The ipod has an ouput, my amp has inputs.... and voila... 20gb of music playing through my system.
I don't have an Alpine but I'll eventually get another headunit (like the Sony MP70 that crapped out after 2 years) that has aux in.
