Hi:
Without replacement of the head unit the only feasible way is to use an FM modulator. This is not an optimal way but is a lot cheaper then getting a mew HU and the associated wiring harnesses to interconnect. IMHO.

there are actually some PIE connectors that will allow you to go into the OEM head unit's changer input.

do a search and you should readily find them. also, i think the info is listed in the FAQ.

Get the PIE AUX adapter if you're using your stock HU, don't bother with FM Mods or anything else. There's really no other way of doing it for getting decent sound out of your MP3 player. It can be had for about $80.

Any HU that has RCA aux inputs you can hardwire an mp3 player to. You just need a 3.5mm to rca jack. You can get one at Radio shack. This plugs into the headphone jack of your mp3 player, and the RCA's connect to the RCA aux of your HU.

Stock HU's have aLogjam Hon Aux adapter available that plugs into your cd changer/XM radio slot. It is RCA based. Despite the site's warnings, some have said that it will work with the 04 stock HU. But you need to get a ground loop isolator (also at radio shack) to block out any interference.

Alpline is releasing thier version of an ipod controller this summer:
Alpine HU controller press release It should be the optimal solution. We are all waiting.

The FM modulators, i.e the itrip, SRPS (Suck rusted pig scrotums) Only good for rental cars and the like. useful but they don't sound so great.

i hope this helps

Basically, it can be done with a series of adapters from a stock Head Unit (HU). The LOG JAM HON AUX is essential. As is a 3.5 mm to RCA jack. It's easy to do, it's just a language barrier that makes it hard to understand.
