Multi-color dash cluster
along those lines, you can have progressive lighting as a shift light. similar to those sequential led shift lights on f1 cars. however, i dont think itll be feasible because the lights would have to be extremely bright and it wouldnt necessarily be in the line of view for taller individuals.

jman,
As far as the legality of LEDs, they've become the norm for tails, so that issue is moot. As far as blinking, several vehicles in the past have had sequential turn signals, and brake light "pulsers" are quite common on bikes. I do not know if any stock vehicle has ever had any "pulsers" on it, but I would be interested in finding out. Every morning I stop at a stop sign just outside of my neighborhood where a county and state officer meet up... they park off to the side looking for speeders on that road as well as taking a coffee break. They see my flashing lights every morning and have never said a word. They're not strobes, just animated, so it's not as big an isue as some would make it out to be.

<-- not very tech savvy..
Eugene, I intend to put a header on the board that would allow a separate shift light to be installed. While the LEDs I chose are quite bright, it would be contradictory to have them dim enough to be comfortable to my eyes but bright enough to be used on the track. So, a header it is.
jman, Legality is always a gray area, no matter what the written book states. Even when there's clearly no law on the books making something illegal, if the ticket-writing officer feels it is, he'll find a way to write you up. Since it's civil, you're guilty until proven innocent, and proving that to a judge or magistrate is often quite difficult.
Not to sidetrack this thread for another project, but the AP2 is not a huge difference. I would not put AP1 boards into an AP2, however, for multiple reasons I won't get into here. Suffice it to say I'll be making an AP2 version sometime in the near future. I was visiting the Honda stealership last month looking at the '08s left on their lot... been considering making mine a show/track vehicle and getting a new one for tooling around town. but that's a story for another day...
2ned, Sweeping the tach is an effect presented by the LCD display, not the lighting board behind it. Unless I had direct control of the display (which I don't), any swept colors would be hidden behind a display that is only allowing light through the first 1,000 rpm bars.

Pulsing should not be an issue. A lot of motorcycles come with it stock from the factory.
Looking good! Would def. be in for this!
Eugene - What software were you running on your Mac? I was under the impression that all AEM software was Windows only...

It was such a pain hooking up my Mac to the right adapter for the AEM EMS because only some adapters worked.
