Default MY 05 tweeter installation and advice

OK......I have my new HU (9857), amp (FR450), Ipod cable snaked into glove box, and all wiring done except snaking the doors. My question is, what kind of glue will I need for my db6500 tweeter to an aluminum mount. That is, glue the back of the magnet to some aluminum. The stock tweeter had a threaded hole in the magnet for added support. on my new setup, the tweeter will be held on mostly by the glue.

Some friendly advice. When installing a new HU, remover the face plate if you can because I got a minor scratch on mine from the threads on the shifter shaft. I had to remove the shifter knob and tranny tunnel cover to snake in the Ipod cable.

Many thanks to those of you that have posted detailed instructions on wiring and installing. What a huge help you have been.

So...........what kind of glue?

I used 2 part epoxy, and it worked out fine.

Is the 03 tweeter pod different from the 05? For my db6500 mounting the tweeter I took the stock tweeter out, then used one of the holders that was about the perfect width... then used a dremel tool to cut a knotch into it on each side where the screw posts were... put the tweeter in, and then slid that in between the posts, took the metal backing off the factory tweeter and screwed it back in (minus the center screw and had to bend the metal holder out) to hold the 6500 tweeter holder... does that make sense?

If not, I plan on doing my door's sound deadening soon so I can take pics...

I think 2 part epoxy is the way to go too. Then, I'm going to wrap around the mount with elec. tape for added support.

The '03 tweeter setup is diff from '05 from what you are saying Doug. Intrestingly, the stock component door woofer weighed only about 3 oz. less than the db 6500. The stock woofer was labelled 4 ohms, 20 watts. Magnet looked to be about the same size as db6500.

i just use some black weather stripping. if anything a few dabs of hot glue will easily work and can still be removed

I am going to be putting in Polk DB6500's with the stock system shortly on my '06. I am wondering exactly how I will have to wire them(using the stock wiring as this is a leased car). There is no crossover between the stock mid/woofer and tweeter from what I understand. So with the new speakers how do I get a full range signal to the Polk Crossover? Do wires from both woofer and tweeter goto the crossover and then back out to the respective speakers? Do I need two sets of harness adapters to maintain the stock wiring? Just trying to plan it out prior to starting.
