Default my amp keeps blowing fuses...

a few weeks ago i got in my car, turned it on, the radio played for about 1 second and then nothing has been heard since then. i checked the fuses on the back of the amp (4 20amp) and they were all blown. so i unhooked the power wire from the battery, replaced the fuses, plugged the battery back in and before i even tried turning the radio on i went to look at the fuses... one of them was already blown.

that was a few weeks ago... im getting tired of listening to some weird noise on the passenger side that is intermittent so i need my radio to work again lol

the only piece of audio equipment that was not bought brand new less than 2 years ago is my amp, fyi if that helps the diagnosis.

Sounds like you probably have a short somewhere. I'd remove the speaker wires from the amp, replace the fuses, and see if it turns on without blowing. If it does, you've got a problem with one of your speaker wires and may need to pull new ones. If it doesn't power up, or still blows fuses, the problem is inside your amp and needs to be repaired or replaced.

^^ agreed...

Just to make sure... the power fuse doesn't blow? correct? I would just add each wire into the amp and see when the fuses blow... the wires might have chaffed over time OR your amp could of gona kaput... but I had an Alpine amp that lasted for over 10 years so...

If you have your power wire feeding the ground terminal....and ground feeding the power terminal.... you will blow a fuse. Make sure you wired the amp correctly
