My camera mount
Some ppl have shown interest in my camera mount. It's simple, but effective. It's just a slab of carbon fiber (but u could use anything that is sturdy, I just wanted something a little *cool*) bolted in through the windscreen mounting holes. Then I drilled another hole in the center for the camera's screw. The hole that is drilled is undetectable from the outside when the windscreen is in place. Takes about 1 min to switch from mount to windscreen.

There are videos from this on my website. Check out the October 21 AutoX in the media section for videos of this particular mounting system.

Excellent setup!
If one were to put spacers in the existing holes, one might not even need to drill the middle hole. The material going across would have to be stiffer or thicker though.
I might toy around with this tonight

Thanks a bunch for the idea.
Here is the Home Depot version of the mount. Using an aluminium square tube and some 10-32 and 1/4 screws. I did not have to drill a hole in the car.
I just finished it and took it around the block. Nice video. So now I am all set for the track this weekend. Put a safety belt around it just in case the thing goes flying.

The Home Depot design looks like the camera might rock from front to back, but the design is a clever way to avoid any extra holes and use available materials.
I drew up a design a long time ago for something similar, but wider for more stability, but it would have required machining. I couldn't get Mingster interested in manufacturing it...
