Default My first post (Flame Suit On)

Alright guys, this is my first post. My name is Alex and I have been lurking at S2kI for the last week or so and I decided to come out and ask a few questions.

First off, I do not yet have an S2000. If everything goes according to plan I will have the money for a down payment for a used S2000 at the end of September, however due to other financial reasons, I will not be getting the S2000 until the begining of November.

I have a few questions regarding some electronics things in the S2000. Please bare with me as I don't have a clue about car stereos.

My first question is... is it possible to hook up the Spods and the Lucid rear speakers and have a switch so I am able to switch from the Spods to the Lucid rears. I have yet to hear the Spods in person, but I am not too sure, from what I have seen, if I want a speaker that close to my head with the top up.

Last... this isnt stereo related, but I know that for cars with an adjustable headrest, it is possible to hook up a harness... or stand to the headrest for a camcorder. Is there any such device for the S2000?

I know these are stupid questions, but thats why the flame suit is on.

You should be able to hook up a switch that would allow you to change your speakers from behind the seats to s-pods. However, that WOULD be a fairly expensive solution. I would suggest you try to find someone local with s-pods and listen to them. I am sure you will be sold.

I have not seen a camera mount for the S2000 seats. I do have a camera mount that goes in place of the windscreen between the roll-hoops. There is a link in my sig with more information and pix if you are interested.

I am not familiar with your 1st question but I can help on the 2nd.

#1, S2000 seats are bucket styled, the headrest is a part of the seat construction. So there is no area for u to maount anything. Most of the S uses the wind deflector mounting points for camera mounting.

#2, To run harness with stock seats if possible. But you must remove the screen on the headrest. But the hardtest part is locate mounting points for the harness.

You have a couple of options in trying to run 4 rear speakers. However, keep in mind that the rear speakers are more for fill than anything else. You would be better served by spending the money on better front speakers and a more powerful amp.

That said, you could run 4 rear speakers in paralell, but you would not have any ability to adjust them independantly from each other. You could amp them separatly, this would allow you to adjust the gains separatly on the rear speakers to balance them. However, you could not tune them separatly with just the head unit as the HU only has 4 channels, not 6.

Best possible advice:

Decide how much you want to spend, regardless of any specific gear. Once you have a budget, decide what will work best.

Honestly, even with $30,000 to spend on a car system I would not put 4 rear speakers in.

Of course I would also not put three subwoofers in (two in the trunk and one in the cabin) but someone did, and they like it. So to each his own.

Good luck.
