My IR dash controller works...except for Mode!
... any ideas for me?
When I program it and press the dash button the unit sees it and lets me press a remote button.
When I go back to use it later, the unit doesn't register a buttonpress! This is seriously aggravating me at this point, has anyone used this unit before and run into this? I've reprogrammed it about 15 times now, and each time it sees the Mode key until i try and use it later!
Just to be clear, when you press any other key the "remote" light flickers... but stays dark on the Mode press.

...so I returned the unit and just installed the new one.
Exact same behavior. No mode button. I plugged in the stock unit, and the Mode button works just fine, so it's the unit somehow.
I think it's going back and getting exchanged for a Sirius on an FM reciever, that was the only major reason I had the other headunit anyhow.

Yeah, i'll try one at some point. For now, i went the Plug-N-Play route (which is anything but!) so I could have satelite in both cars, plus not worry about the dash controls at all.
The PNP is wired into my dash and just lives suction cupped to the windscreen near the driver's pillar. Good enough for now.

Did you install a resistor between the black and white wire??
From PAC
"In some cases for the Mode button to function, no resistor is needed, a 3900 ohm resistor is needed, or a 5100 ohm resistor is needed across the INTERFACES white and black wires."

Nope, I didn't. My directions didn't state that for the S2k. *grumble*
Ah well, i'm actually very happy with the P/P + stock headunit solution. Didn't really realize how few MP3s i played in the car once I got sattelite radio, I guess. Haven't missed the capability.
