Default A Pac Sw-3 Question For The Experts!

I just finished installing my new stereo along with PAC SW-3 to make the dash controls functional. I used a 3.3 resistor to get the controls to work however I have one problem. My head unit is a three year old Kenwood Mask model. The remote has seperate function buttons for tuner, cd, tape, and changer. rather than a single button that sequences thru each of those function. I cannot get the large dash button labeled audio control to learn more than one function at a time. This severely limits what I can do with the controls. Any ideas on how I can make the large dash audio control to sequence thru a variety of functions like it does with the stock radio?

I think you're SOL there dude, unless the IR remote for the head unit has a single button to toggle through the functions.

What I did with mine is make the large button the Back/Down button, which I have found to be far more useful than a source selector. You might set it up that way and see how you like it...

Good luck!

Good idea Jason! I might just try that. Thanks for your input.

M3,

The button can only supply one resistance, so the SWI-X assumes the last IR code entered for that resistance to be the one you want. No easy way around it with the SWI-X. The hardwire Sony control from S2kMan could offer more possibilities, but again, not in its current form...the advantage with his control box is the ability to add more programmability. As of right now, I have no idea if he intends to leave it strictly as a Sony control, or expand into other territories...send him a PM.

I'm afraid my unit won't help at this point, if you were installing a Sony, I could hook you up. However, I am hoping to be able to make it work with other models eventually but I'm not sure Kenwood is a candidate. It depends on whether or not Kenwood has been putting a 'wired' remote connector in of any kind that I can tap into. I have an idea for another project that may help with other brands in conjunction with the SWI-X but I'm still several months away from revealing that project.

S2kMan can probably get any wired radio working with his unit. The problem is that there isn't very many wired units out there.

The SWI-X is will supposedly work as a hard wire device for Alpine radios where as you cut off the eye and wire in a mono 1/8" stereo plug for its wired input. I've had no opportunity to try this.
