Default My new stereo set-up

So after months of deliberation here is the stereo system I ended up with.

HU: Pioneer Premier DEH-P880PRS
Component Speakers: Pioneer Premier TS-C720PRS
Sub-Woofer: Pioneer Premier 10" TS-SW2501 with ebay sub-box
Amp: Alpine PDX-4.150

This set-up sounds fantastic. The door speakers really hit hard and matched with the sub you get deep rich sound. They are also of the utmost quality. It's almost a shame that they are hidden in a door panel, they and the cross-overs look like miniature electronic works of art. The sub isn't going to rattle windows as you drive by. However, it will complement the rest of your system, and to me as well as my installer, sounds really nice.

A note on the speakers. They fit into the door without any problems at all. The only problem is that they could probably use a small spacer. When I say small, I'm talking like 1/16". There is a very slight sound of light contact when the windows go down. It doesn't bother me, and it doesn't interfere with the operation of the window.

So there it is. If any of you have any questions feel free to ask.

I was considering the 720PRS components based on the great reviews, but while the midrange driver is pretty universally praised, there seemed to be some disagreement about the tweeter. Do you find any harshness or "fatigue"?

That's a bit of a tricky question. I had heard of the same problems that you describe with the tweeters. They are to big to fit in the stock holes for the tweeters they were replacing, and I didn't feel like taking the time to cut out the stock grills and have them exposed. I mounted them in the stock tweeter hole slightly directed towards the wind shield.

So no, I havent experienced any harshness or fatigue. That's either because the problem was somewhat blown out of proportion or exagerated, or I corrected the problem by my mounting method.

They really do sound fantastic. I think you would be very pleased with them.

Another thing worth mentioning is the ebay sub enclosure. It's really a nice quality piece. You could tell it was professionally made and that quality materials were used.

It fit perfectly into my tool well without any modifications. Just dropped right in. I did have to slightly enlarge the 10" opening for my sub however. My installer had another 10" that he put in that was a direct fit. So depending on which sub you get you may need to modify the opening slightly, or it may fit perfectly.
