2 questions:
1) why not just mount the main unit on the dash?
2) with the way Loki has it, does the main unit go off when it's triggered?

Probably I misunderstood your question, but here goes my second possible answer:
When the unit is triggered, only the audio function works (beep, braaap, etc), but the display stays off. You see the display arrows in the concealed unit in your dashboard, so nobody behind you sees it.

Good enough?

I am sold. Thank you.
I agree. With a car like this it's too easy to go past the speed limit even if I do not intend to. I will be getting the remote unit as well.

Loki:
1) In the picture "Underneath the dash", I can see the red wire from the Direct-wire power adaptor. Where does the black wire from the adaptor go? Does it get attched to the gold color bolt that is shown in the center of the same picture?
2) From the V1 main unit, the power wire is hidden behind the visor? What do you use to hold it there?

Naka: I was going to wait a month to get the V1. Got a bunch of things for the car already. Then I figured if I get a ticket before the V1 arrives, I would feel real stupid.

Thanks for all the help.

Mavic,

the black wire does go to the gold bolt, in a subsequent post I added:

"As per one email I got, I wanted to add to the install instructions that the ground I used is just above where the power splitter is mounted under the dash. You'll see a copper colored bolt with a bunch of other ground wires leading to it, use that one."

nothing holds the wire behind the visor... it's taught enough to stay put when the visor is up or down. However if you disconnect the V1 and stow it away the wire will be loose so if you plan to drive without the V1 you can probably just loop it around the visor or rearview mirror once.

loki: Thanks for the reply. One more question, Do I need anything to connect the red wire from the Direct-wire power adaptor to the "free male connector"? Thanks again. It's intimidating not having any experience with the electrical system in the car.

Just a mini warning to V1 users.

I had my V1 in my old Integra GSR. I had the unit mounted on the windshield about 6 inches up off the dash...one day the damn suction cups decided to come loose (the car was parked in the garage at the time) well the beast fell on the dash and put a nice 4 inch scratch in it that cost me $180.00 bucks to fix and never looked right again. I have yet to put the V1 in the stook for fear of the same thing happening.

Just to let you all know, do not trust those suction cups (they really suck ok that was lame

I can only imagine the damage that would result if it feel from rearview mirror height!

This is another reason to install the V1 in front of the areoscreen on top of the console. Just buy the remote display unit and wire it near your dash.
