Thank you for reviewing this. I've got a question and don't know if it is possible, but knew this was the group to ask.
Concept:
Hook HP iPAQ 6315 from the 35mm audio jack to the Audio Connector B on MY04.
(The Connector B is a 14 pin layout...which for the life of me cannot find the schematics diagram breakout for the connector in the service manual.)
I've found a audio left and audio right splitter in RCA format for the iPAQ and have hooked up this combo to many home stereos.
Does anyone have any knowledge if this is possible, I am sure it has to be because you're dealing with digital signals. I just need to know which wire is the right audio in and left audio in on the 14 pin breakout.
If possible, I plan to mount the iPAQ in my cup holder. It looks pretty trick...James Bond like when you slide the door open and phone, nav system and MP3 player is there.
*The iPAQ is a quad band phone, with Bluetooth. I use the Bluetooth for my GPS and wireless phone usage. I am trying to convert the iPAQ into a dedicated MP3 player for the S, without the stupid FM wireless garbage that is out there for receiving the signal from the unit.(Belkin, yada yada)
UPDATE:
Decided the cupholder needed a technology upgrade. This is pretty sweet. Wanted install a carphone/nav system and not be visible for theft purposes. I got the PIE unit and hooked it up, then drilled power and audio mounts for the iPAQ.
Install complete.
My navigation (which speaks to me obviously, and phone calls come through the car speakers...and I speak through bluetooth boom. Works fantastic. Quite happy.
I have a quad band GSM phone/bluetooth boom
Bluetooth GPS Navigation
WiFi
Windows Media Player and a 1 GB SD card for music
not to mention my Internet, wireless email text message etc. etc.
Part of it, in my opinion, is the Hon-aux. The newer model (big brick) picks up more interference than the older and very small model. The difference is the new model doesn't have the cables as part of the unit, they are separate.
two things to check.
1) if you are not powering the PPC from the vehicle, make sure you used the hon-aux grounding wire. If you are, make sure you are not using the hon-aux grounding wire.
2) if it is a whine, does it increase when the RPMs increase? I replaced my cabling with Monster cable and that made a huge difference. I went with the thicker THX certified cable versus the monster ipod cable - I have both and the ticker cable doesn't pick up as much.
If you are still picking up interference it is probably the hon-aux.
